University of Houston Clear Lake Student Chapter of the Texas Council of Elementary Science Constitution and Bylaws Article I. Name The name of this organization shall be University of Houston Clear Lake Student Chapter of the Texas Council of Elementary Science and shall be an alliance of the Texas Council of Elementary Science, Highland Village, TX, USA. This organization shall be a student chapter of TCES

Article II. Purpose/Objectives 

The purpose of the UHCL Student Chapter of TCES is to stimulate, improve and coordinate science teaching at preschool and elementary school levels and to engage in any and all activities in the furtherance thereof; to promote the improvement of science programs which begin at the preschool level and develop in a continuous and integrated fashion through grade 12 and beyond; to assist teachers in exchanging ideas and gaining motivation; to facilitate communication among elementary science teachers concerning: • State and national trends • State Board of Education rules • Textbook adoption • Curriculum development • Teacher in-service programs • Available resources And to pursue actions which may help TCES achieve these purposes. Article III. Membership

Membership in the UHCL Student Chapter of the Texas Council of Elementary Science shall be open to any person who has paid membership dues; without regard to race, color, or creed with an interest in the objectives of the organization. The qualifications and rights for membership shall be as follows:

Section 1: Eligibility

Membership is open to all UHCL students, faculty and community members who have paid dues; however, the number of faculty and community members may not exceed the number of UHCL student members. A student is defined as an individual in good standing enrolled in UHCL course work leading to an appropriate degree. TCES encourages diverse membership. Hence, the UHCL student chapter may not require a member to join TCES, or non-TCES organizations, to become a chapter member or enjoy the full privileges afforded by the student chapter.

Section 2:
